Your sponsor wallet and gas

What the sponsor wallet is, why you only send the difference, and what happens to leftovers.

What it is

A small wallet RescueFi creates in your browser the first time you rescue. Its only job is to pay gas for your rescue transactions.

The sponsor key is created in your browser and never leaves it. It only ever holds gas for the next rescue.

Has and needs

Before sending, the app quotes the gas the rescue needs, with a small buffer for fee changes, and compares it with what your sponsor wallet already holds. You only send the difference. If gas on the network moves a lot while you are paying, the screen shows the new amount; the address never changes.

Two ways to fund it

Send from anywhere: the sponsor address, a QR code and the exact amount

  • Connect a wallet and send. Any wallet except the compromised one, on the same chain. The app fills in the amount and waits for your confirmation.
  • Send from anywhere. The screen shows the sponsor address, a QR code and the exact amount. Send from an exchange or another wallet.

Send the chain's native currency on that chain only. Anything else will not count and may be lost.

Leftovers

Anything unused stays in your sponsor wallet for your next rescue. You can also withdraw it to your safe wallet at any time from the "Manage" link on the gas screen or the link on the success screen.

Signatures expire after an hour

If gas is not funded within an hour of signing, the app asks you to sign again. Nothing is sent, and gas you already funded stays in the sponsor wallet.
